Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Views After Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Feature
The "Taken" star has provided his voice to a new documentary that challenges the efficacy of vaccines and commends former health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the pandemic for assertions that Covid was a result of a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
The book's writing partner, a producer, has previously authored books with controversial radio host the Infowars host. He recently posted hailing Neeson's involvement in the film.
A Firm Statement
A spokesperson for the actor have provided a comment strongly denying implications that he holds anti-vaccine views.
"We all acknowledge that misconduct may occur within the drug industry, but that must not be equated to being against vaccines," the comment states. "Liam is not, and is not, anti-vax. His extensive work with the UN children's agency reinforces his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It noted that the actor did not shape the film's messaging and that inquiries about its assertions should be directed to the filmmakers.
Major Themes Featured in the Film
According to the documentary, the script spoken by Neeson features several provocative statements:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It posits that "research has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
- The film further attacks pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Context and Ongoing Issues
The documentary further cites a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was later the focus of a correction by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
Recently, Kennedy called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This supposed link is echoed in the film, contrary to a recent study from the global health body confirming no such link has been found.
A Previous Statement of Support
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past shown strong support for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an incredible achievement," adding that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's voice saying, "This isn't the finish of our journey. It is the start of a fresh chapter."
