Dan Burn Always dangerous from dead balls, per usual, perhaps is a replacement to Stones at the back instead of his partner. One wayward distribution later in the match almost led to an opener for the visitors. 6

Nico O’Reilly Another confident showing from the 20-year-old after his first cap against Serbia. Saka failed to make full advantage of a clever flick over the Albania defence. His position looks secure so soon. 7

Adam Wharton His first start for his country. A bit sloppy in possession though his dangerous deliveries caused problems. A useful tempo-setter available to the manager to call upon versus sides that sit back. Cautioned after a reckless foul. 6

The midfielder Set-pieces on corner kicks and set-plays caused problems. Enjoyed room to drift in left midfield but was offside upon receiving with a chance to score. Awarded a merited break after an hour. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward role down the right while also did plenty of the hard yards. Displayed moments of class and mishit an effort over. Replaced late on by a teammate, his rival, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Was presented with England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his strike smartly stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. With a teammate staying deep, he had to offer an outlet down the right side but his crosses into the box varied in quality. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6

The captain The decisive figure netting two more finishes in an England shirt. The opener a classic poacher’s finish while the second a superb header having drifted away off his defender. Aged 32, he continues to improve and the side stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. Eight

The attacker Found it tough to make an impact on the left flank. Was presented with a good opening following a pass by the midfielder however Strakosha denied him. Rashford had a greater effect in his place. 5/10
