Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
