Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
