England Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test match for New Zealand was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former New Zealand pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match because of his participation in the International League T20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English team for the opening of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, Southee said of his participation: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's ever a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [England's] side that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
