The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of frozen Russia's funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, France, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the US.

British sanctions have blocked more than £25bn of Russian resources since Russia initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, resources provided to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had only been drawn from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward using the full value of the immobilized Russia's state assets to halt hostilities.

He stated that further sanctions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This declaration comes after European Union representatives met in Copenhagen last week to consider utilizing immobilized Russia's holdings for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

Recently, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to take or utilize frozen Russian funds, based on media sources.

The value of seized Russian funds in the Europe is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to join the Purl programme

The Russian government launched widespread bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, causing power cuts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

Several persons were killed and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the assault, the Ukrainian government said.

In a post on X after the incident, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike focused on non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not just talk but firm measures - from the United States, Europe, and the seven nations - in providing air defence systems and applying restrictions," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

Additionally that day, Zelensky stated to reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to join the Purl programme, under which Nato countries purchase weapons from the America to donate to Ukraine.

While praising the Britain's firm backing for Ukraine, he noted it should send a clear signal that it would take part in the system, as well as impose additional restrictions on Moscow.
