Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
American entertainer Finn, who was seen in popular programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.
"He never met a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a announcement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
A Prolific TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared online.
Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
